Burial Place Of The Ghost Horse

IMG_2381

In the middle ages it was customary to bury people inside the church, and there are hundreds of graves under the cathedral floor. Tombs inside the church were not cheap so the less wealthy were buried outside, the prosperous paying for a place inside the church which they then covered with a large tombstone. This narrow black stone is, according to legend the burial site of a Ghost Horse. Three legged and with eyes like red hot coals if you meet it you are doomed!!!

In earlier times folks used to spit on it as they passed by - nice 😳
